How much do you charge per session?
I charge $200 for an intake session and $175 per regular therapeutic hour (53 minutes). If we bill through your insurance, the cost of your hour is contingent on the contract you have with your insurance/how they value the hour.
What does the way my insurance values the hour mean?
The way I like to explain it is I could charge your insurance company $1,000,000/hour, but they would come back and say, we only “allow” x amount. This is based on the amount that a particular insurance company has set an allowed amount of the service for a particular code billed.
Do you have a sliding scale fee?
If you have negotiated a sliding scale fee, that is based on a range from $85/hour to $175/hour. If you need this option, please feel free to bring this up. I consider this on a case by case basis.
Are you in network with my Insurance?
I am currently contracted with First Choice (connects with some Kaiser plans) and Premera/Lifewise, Aetna, and Regence, Community Health Plan of Washington and United.
If you want to double check, usually there is an in-network search engine within your insurance’s website that will quickly confirm it.
How will billing work?
I have a biller I work with to process your claims. She sends me monthly updates of where your bill stands. Co/payments are processed through me via Simple Practice or another source I use for billing called Headway.
Is there any way for you to tell how many sessions this will take?
I work within a long term therapeutic frame (can be months to years). I have found that long term work is usually the most beneficial to my clients with regards to their overall healing and growth of self awareness along with their capacity to be self aware and self regulate. It is really a matter of seeing what your needs are and how things unfold within our time together. Of course, how long you participate in therapy is always up to you.
What are telehealth sessions?
Telehealth sessions are confidential online sessions where we both log on to meet using Simple Practice and Easy-EMDR, both HIPAA compliant online platforms. You will get a one-time-use code via email for the time of our meeting, then you use it to log on and then start the hour together, face to face.
What do I need to do telehealth therapy?
A confidential space that does not have other people in it or walking through it so you can share freely. Pets welcome, unless they are too distracting for you to be present
A working/crisp camera on your computer/smartphone
Turning off your view of yourself. If we were in office, you wouldn’t be looking in a mirror while we were having our conversation:)
A stable-strong internet connection that allows for a smooth conversation
Headphones if it helps with confidentiality and if you prefer sounds for EMDR work, they need to be headphones that are plugged in, as bluetooth won’t work.
What kind of information do I need to provide before we meet for the first time?
I will send you an electronic intake packet via my practice portal, Simple Practice, before our first meeting. You will need to fill it out before we meet, and leaving blank anything you have questions or concerns on until we can talk about it during our first meeting.
